BLACKSTONE, MA- Normand A. Piette, 72, of Early Village Drive, died December 4, 2013 in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Maureen (Holt) Piette whom he married October 12, 1985.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late William A. and Germaine N. (Lavallee) Piette. He lived in Woonsocket for twenty-five years prior to moving to Blackstone in 2010.
Mr. Piette was an employee of Bryant University, Smithfield for over twenty years beginning in the Public Safety Dept. and retiring in 2002 from the Maintenance Dept. Additionally, he served as Union Steward for Bryant University for ten years. A proud Navy Veteran and a proud descendent of Native American ancestry, Normand loved to read and discuss topics such as politics, history and Native American culture. He was a former President of the Village People Association for the Early Village Community, Blackstone and was a member of the Soaring Eagle Clan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by six children; Lynne Gilpatrick of Blackstone, William Piette of Woonsocket, Richard Matte of Cumberland, Lori-Ann Sowell of Providence, Mary Eldridge of Blackstone and Rudy Scholl of Westwood, MA, twenty-two grandchildren and three great grandsons. He was the brother of the late Gerald Piette.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 10AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Hope St., Hopedale, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
