McGair: Getting you ready for the Division II Super Bowl between Cumberland and West Warwick

December 8, 2013

Welcome to the final day of fall high school sports in Rhode Island, otherwise known as Super Bowl Sunday.

The big game of note in the area takes place at 3 p.m. with defending Division II champion Cumberland squaring off against West Warwick. The Clippers and Wizards each finished with 5-2 records in league play – a mark that was also equaled by three fellow division foes.

As a result of that unprecedented five-way tie for first place, one team was eliminated while West Warwick was awarded the No. 1 seed in Division II-B.

The two Division II finalists met back on Nov. 8 at Tucker Field with West Warwick coming away with a 14-0 victory. The Wizards and Clippers have each played three additional times since that regular-season encounter, each taking care of business in their respective playoff and Thanksgiving Day holiday tilts.

Now that the big game is finally here – remember, this matchup was set in stone the weekend before Thanksgiving – we present a look at the Wizards vs. Clippers matchup through the lens of several articles and video clips. Call it the equivalent of one stop shopping, high school football style.
