CUMBERLAND- Mary D. Silva (Mendes), of Sonny Dr., passed away Monday in the R. I. Hospital Providence. She was the beloved wife of Basilio M. Silva.
Born in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Maria (Gomes) Mendes. She had resided in Cumberland for over 40 years.
She and her husband owned and operated Mendon Liquors Mendon Rd., Cumberland for 23 years retiring 9 years ago. She was also a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Besides her husband she leaves a son, James Silva and his wife Kelley P. Silva of Westford, MA. She also leaves two sisters, Alice Pestana and Maria Brehio both of Lincoln. Mrs. Silva was also the mother of the late David Silva and sister of the late Jose Mendes.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
