WOONSOCKET - Gerald A. "Jerry" Cote, 86, a lifelong resident of Woonsocket, died Saturday, November 16 after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Therese Cote who passed away in 2012. They had been married for 53 years.
Born June 7, 1927 in Fall River, he was the son of the late August and Alphema (Denault) Cote.
Jerry grew up in Woonsocket and attended Woonsocket High School. A well known local athlete, Jerry was an accomplished baseball pitcher, playing for a number of area and New England baseball teams. Entering the Army near the end of World War II, Jerry was a successful pitcher for the 3rd U. S. Army baseball team in Europe. Jerry and his wife were employed for many years by TJX Company, retiring in 1990.
He is survived by his three sons, William Cote of East Providence and Naples, FL, Kenneth Cote of Cranston and Gerald R. Cote of Los Angeles; two grandsons and four great grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Martha's Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
