PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- Brown, Robert L. "Bob", 78 formerly of Nasonville, RI passed away, Monday December 9th, 2013 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his youngest son Scott, wife Kelly and grandson Tim in their Port Charlotte home. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean H. (Johnson) Brown for more than 46 years.
Port Charlotte was the couple's retirement home for more than 10 years.
He was born in Tilton, New Hampshire to the late Robert J. Brown and Ida (Roberge) Brown in 1935 and he is survived by his siblings Bernice, Caroline, and Ronald all of Massachusetts.
He was a proud veteran of the Marine corp. and served during the Korean conflict. He returned home and married the love of his life the late Jean H. Brown and he is survived by 2 daughters and 3 sons. Cheryl Brown of San Francisco, Robert and Kevin Brown both residents of Massachusetts, Lori Gendron of Georgia and Scott Brown of Florida. He is predeceased by his son Daniel Brown of Marysville, CA. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He worked in the machine and building trades and in his later years worked at Electric boat as a nuclear inspector where he semi-retired. After retiring to Florida he continued working part time and enjoyed exploring the Florida coast with his wife and small dog Puff Puff.
The family will hold a private ceremony at the Sarasota Veterans Memorial Cemetery where both he and his wife's remains will be interned.
