It’s official: Landmark’s merger with Prime is complete

WOONSOCKET – Prime Healthcare Services announced today that it has completed the Rhode Island acquisitions of Landmark Medical Center and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island.

Through their subsidiaries, Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services and the nonprofit Prime Healthcare Foundation now have more than 30,000 employees and own and operate 25 hospitals.

“Prime Healthcare looks forward to working with the medical staffs and employees to make these two healthcare facilities the best in Rhode Island and the nation, ” said Prem Reddy, chairman, president and CEO of Prime, in a press release issued Tuesday afternoon. “Prime Healthcare’s motto is saving hospitals, saving jobs and saving lives, and we take this responsibility very seriously.”

“Today is a tremendous day for our employees and residents of the northern Rhode Island community,” said Rick Charest, president and CEO of Landmark Medical Center and the RHRI. “With the clinical and operational expertise and financial commitment from Prime Healthcare combined with the dedication of our employees and physicians, our facilities will be able to provide the highest quality healthcare for years to come.”
