James P. Dwyer Jr.

WOONSOCKET- Dwyer, James P. Jr., 91, of Woonsocket and formerly of Providence, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013. He was the husband of the late Rosalie (Melino) Dwyer.
Born in East Providence, he was the son of the late James H. and Florence (Williams) Dwyer Sr.
James worked at the former Almacs for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He took pride servicing "his" dairy aisle. He served in the U.S. Army in 1942-1946 with notable service as a switchboard operator overseas in Panama. He was an avid bowler in East Providence bowling leagues. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a great fan of John Wayne and western movies and games of the Yankees and Giants.
He is survived by his children, James P. Dwyer III and his wife Charlene, David Dwyer and his wife Charlene, and Kevin Dwyer and his wife Jeannette, and seven grandchildren, Brenton, Ryan, Courtney, Kelly, Matthew, Kevin Jr., and Derek. He was the brother of the late Thomas, John, and Mary Dwyer, and Catherine Rebello.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9am from the Hoey-Arpin-Williams-King Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Sunday 2-5pm.
