Bernardo Colella, Sr.

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC-Bernardo "Benny" Colella, Sr. 73 of Ocean Isle Beach, died peacefully Thursday December 30, 2013 surrounded by his family at the Conway Medical Center in South Carolina, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary A. "Bunny" (Hosford) Colella.
Born March 5, 1940 in Dedham, a son of the late Vincent and Mary F. (Scarcella) Colella he was a former resident of Dedham and was a longtime Franklin resident before moving to North Carolina several years ago.
Benny was raised and educated in Dedham, and was a self employed contractor in the Franklin area for many years before retiring.
He was a devoted husband; father and grandfather who treasured time spent with his family, and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots, doing yard work and tending to his horses, and his retirement years spent in North Carolina.
He was a member of the St. Anthony's Society in Franklin, and was a volunteer at the OIBSTPO.
In addition to his wife Bunny, he is survived by his children, Bernardo "Benny" Colella, Jr. and his wife Monika of Hopedale, Lori A. Sincavage and her husband William of Bellingham and Judith A. Ring and her husband Brian of North Carolina, 2 brothers, Vincent J. Colella of Hopedale, John C. "Jack" Colella of Franklin, 4 sisters, Livia Westhaver and her husband Chip of Cape Coral, Florida, Marie Joyce and her husband Bob of Medford, Louise Herrick of Wrentham and Grace Ann Colella of Franklin.
Also surviving are his grandchildren; Rocco, Antonia & Ariana Colella, Mackenzie & Cassidy Ring, & Kelsea and Ashley Monterotti.
He is the brother of the late Adam Colella and Frances Boudreau.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Tuesday Jan. 7th, at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Calling hours are Monday Jan. 6th from 4-8PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472 or a charity of one's choice.
