MANVILLE- Catherine R. (Berry) Laplante, 90, of 30 Sayles Hill Rd.,formerly , Waterview Apts. in Woonsocket, died, Sunday January 5, 2014 in the Holiday Retirement Nursing Home, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Oliver V. Laplante.
Mrs. Laplante was born in Providence, and moved to Woonsocket, in 1968. She was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Imelda M. (Hennessey) Berry.
Mrs. Laplante worked as a mender for the Rochambeau Worsted, in Manville and also for Weight Watchers, until retiring in 1989.
She was a member of St. Joseph Veterans, and a Lifetime member of Weight Watchers.
Mrs. Laplante was a veteran of the United States Navy and served as a Telegrapher Second Class.
She enjoyed listening to music and loved dancing.
She is survived by her son, Kevin P. Laplante, of Denmark, and one granddaughter Katrine H. Laplante of Denmark, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Elizabeth Nadeau, Alice Broughal, Mary Laughery, and Edward J. Berry Jr.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 10 A.M. in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Burial with Military Honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are Saturday January 11, 2014 from 9-10 A.M. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to the Holiday Retirement Home, Activity Fund, 30 Sayles Hill Rd. Lincoln, R.I. 02838 would be appreciated.
