Gerard Frappier

WOONSOCKET- Gerard Frappier, 79, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Wilfred and Rachel (Brisson) Frappier.
He is survived by his brother, Omer Frappier, and his sister Jeanne (Frappier) Pepin, both of Woonsocket, in addition to many neices and nephews. He is the brother of the late, Joseph Frappier of Bellingham. He was an honorable man who served his country, his community, and most importantly the students of Bellingham, which is his legacy.
After graduating from Mount Saint Charles, he joined the Air Force and traveled throughout Europe serving as Radar Operator for the 629th Squadron from 1953 to 1957. Upon his discharge, he returned to Rhode Island and graduated from Providence College and began his teaching career.
He began his career in the Bellingham School System in 1961, where he was a teacher in the Pinecrest and South Schools, and was then appointed to the position of Vice Principal of the Bellingham Memorial Junior-Senior High School in 1965. He remained in this position until his retirement in 1989, despite several offers to become Principal of the school. He was dedicated to the work he did to encourage and mentor students and never wanted to lose that personal connection to "his kids". He impacted many lives through his hard work and dedication to the students of Bellingham, and is well remembered by many graduates and teachers alike.
As an active member of the community, he served on the Woonsocket Housing Authority from 1976 to 1988 and again from 2008-2012. In addition he was Chairman of the Personnel Board for many years.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cartier's Funeral Home, Bellingham, MA
