BLACKSTONE- Edward J. St. John, 91, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Blackstone Nursing Home.
Born in Franklin, MA on January 2, 1923, he was the beloved son of the late Francis W. and Helen (David) St. John.
He was the loving brother of the late William F. St. John and his devoted sister-in-law Lorraine M. (Martinelli) St. John. He leaves his cherished nephew David W. St. John and his niece Michelle M. Phaneuf and her husband, Edward all of Blackstone, MA and his great-nephew Brady E. St. John and great-niece Laci Rose Phaneuf.
A resident of Blackstone since 1982, he was formerly of Franklin, MA where he was raised. Mr. St. John worked as an electroplater for Whiting & Davis for many years until retiring. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Franklin and St. Theresa Church in Blackstone. He was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed trips to the dog track.
Mr. St. John was a United States Army World War II Veteran with the 1117th Military Police Company Aviation and received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Victory Medal.
Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 14th at 10:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM at St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St, Blackstone, MA. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Franklin, MA.
Visiting time is from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the funeral home prior to Mass.
