Edward R. Viens, Sr.

WOONSOCKET- Edward R. Viens, Sr. 77 passed away on January 7, 2014, in the Oakland Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Beatrice E. (Denault) Viens.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Edward and Eleanor (Blais) Viens.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Debra A. Campisi, of Florida, and Donna M. Viens, of Woonsocket, and one son, Edward Jr., of Texas. He also leaves one beloved granddaughter, Hilarie A. Viens, of Woonsocket, who was his pride and joy.
He is also survived by two brothers, Raymond Sr. of Norwell, Ma. and Robert Sr. of Lincoln, RI, as well as one sister, Eleanor Colli, of Cumberland, R.I.
He was in the Combat Engineers during the Korean Conflict, and was a past member of St. Joseph's Veterans Association, the VFW Post 15041, and he was former President and lifetime member of the Club Lafayette.
He was a supervisor employed at Dennison Manufacturing Company for 21 years and was employed at Bruins Plastics Company for 20 years, as a super intendant and safety manager.
Ed enjoyed playing golf, dominoes, and cards, and was also an avid Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins fan.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, to celebrate his life, will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10 A.M. in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket, R.I. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, R.I. Relatives and friends are invited, calling hours are omitted. The family will receive guest in the rear of the Church beginning at 9:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Rhode Island Hematology /Oncology Program, 115 Cass Ave, Suite 2, Woonsocket, R.I. 02895.
The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, R.I. is in charge of the arrangements.
