Plaza foreclosure on hold

January 14, 2014

WOONSOCKET – A Superior Court judge postponed the foreclosure of Walnut Hill Plaza until Feb. 28 after the owners filed a lawsuit against the lenders who hold the mortgage on the shopping center.

Papers filed in the case indicate the owners of the strip mall aren’t necessarily opposed to relinquishing the title to the lenders, but they’d prefer a “like kind” transfer that would shield them from certain tax liabilities.
