IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Uxbridge takes stand on free sand

January 16, 2014

UXBRIDGE – Call it sand abuse.
Town residents who get free sand for their driveways and walkways from the town's Public Works Department will now have to follow new rules or risk getting their winter sand privileges taken away.
Like many communities, the town has allowed its residents to take winter sand from the Highway Department garage on Hecla Street, but the Board of Selectmen was forced to come up with a new winter sand use policy due to past incidents of misuse and abuse.
