WOONSOCKET – Michael A. Morin appears to have eked out a victory over Douglas T. Brown in Tuesday’s Democratic primary for a House vacancy, but there were still enough uncounted mail and provisional ballots to keep the results in question until they’re counted this afternoon.
With Morin ahead by just 37 votes on machine ballots, he wasn’t claiming victory just yet, and Brown wasn’t ready to concede.
Before the race is settled, there are still 58 more votes to be counted, including 45 absentees, according to Greg McBurney of the state Board of Elections.
Estelle Corriveau, manager of the local Board of Canvassers, said she will also turn over 13 approved provisional ballots to the board of elections.
