Morin’s officially the winner in House District 49

January 23, 2014

WOONSOCKET – Michael A. Morin secured his win in the city’s Democratic primary for its District 49 state representative seat on Thursday, adding slightly to his margin of victory over second-place finisher Douglas T. Brown with the counting of remaining paper and provisional ballots at the state Board of Elections in Providence.

With the absence of a Republican opponent, Morin will now appear as the only candidate on the ballot for the seat’s special election on Feb. 25. The election was called to fill the unexpired Dist. 49 term resulting from Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt’s resignation as Dist. 49 representative upon her inauguration in December.
