PROVIDENCE â€” Some people argue that because the lieutenant governor no longer has specific constitutional duties, the office should be done away with. But R.I. Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, who officially announced he is running for lieutenant governor on Monday, says it is that very lack of a job formal description which â€śallows for vision, allows for leadership, allows someone to tackle the problems of today.
â€śThe lieutenant governorâ€™s office is one I think holds a lot of promise,â€ť Mollis told The Call Monday. â€śIt is a job that anyone who has a vision and wants to make a difference in Rhode Island should be excited about. I definitely am. It is an office that can play an integral part in moving Rhode Island forward.â€ť
