BLACKSTONE- Ronald A. MacGregor, 83, of Blackstone, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Constance E. (Thompson) MacGregor.
Born in Everett, MA on March 16, 1927, he was the son of the late George A. MacGregor and Marjorie L. (Copp) MacGregor Chick.
He was the loving father of Ronald Borneman and his wife, Patricia, of Taunton, MA, Bruce O'Brien and his wife, Diane, of Irvington, CT, Peter J. Edwards and his wife, Barbara, of Blackstone, MA, Cheryl Mele and her husband, Gary, of Mendon, MA, Ann Staples and her husband, Steven, of Blackstone, MA, and the late Lawrence Edwards, and Linda Plante; his 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Dorothy Moore of King, NC and the late Herman B. Chick, Jr.
A resident of Blackstone since 2008, formerly of Bellingham and Hopedale, and worked for Local #537 of Boston as a pipe fitter for over 50 years until retiring. He was a World War II Veteran serving with the U. S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Roger L. Wood American Legion Post 355 of Mendon, and the Millerville Mens Club of Blackstone. He was an avid cribbage player and sports enthusiast. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 13, at 11:00AM at CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Interment will follow at Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford, MA. Visiting hours are Saturday from 9 to 11AM prior to funeral service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ronald A. MacGregor may be sent to the VNA and Hospice of Greater Milford, 37 Birch St., Milford, MA 01757 would be appreciated.
