BELLINGHAM- Raymond J. Boucher, 99, of Bellingham, MA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 25, 2014 with loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Johanna (Winklhofer) Boucher.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on January 27, 1914, he was the son of the late Camille and Mary Louise (Jalbert) Boucher.
He was the loving father of Steven C. Boucher and his wife, Denise of Woonsocket, RI, Katherine D. Lewis and her husband, Dean of Blackstone, MA, Sonja E. Wilson of Woonsocket, RI, Elizabeth L. Smith and her husband, Scott of Franklin, MA, Thomas Robillard of Blackstone, MA, Debra Chapman of Blackstone, MA and the late Bellingham Police Chief Richard B. Boucher, late Raymond Boucher, late Patty Ridge and late Roger Boucher. He leaves his cherished 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Bertrand, Horace, and Phillip Boucher, Yvonne Ducharme, Arthmise Langhamer, Marguerite Desrosiers, Irene Mahaffry and Beatrice Boucher.
A longtime resident of Bellingham formerly of Franklin, Mr. Boucher worked as an Occupational Therapist at the Foxboro State Hospital for many years until retiring.
Mr. Boucher was a United States Navy World War II Veteran attaining the rank of Gunner’s Make, Second Class and received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post 7272 of Bellingham.
Recently, Mr. Boucher received a proclamation from the Town of Bellingham that January 19, 2014 be celebrated as Raymond Boucher Day. He was also the oldest male resident of Bellingham. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours are on Sunday, February 2nd from 1 to 3PM at CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a funeral service at 3PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA will be private.
