SMITHFIELD - Hortense L. (Theroux) Vanasse, 84, of Smithfield, formerly of Woonsocket, died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Hebert Health Center in Smithfield after a long illness. Mrs. Vanasse was the wife of the late Normand J. Vanasse. She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Cleophas and Alice (Bibeault) Theroux.
Mrs. Vanasse was an assembler at the A.T. Cross Co. for many years before retiring.
She is survived by her son Paul Vanasse and his wife Barbara of Smithfield and her daughter Denise O'Connell of Woonsocket. She leaves six grandchildren, Jason and John Laliberte, Jessica Marcos, Stacie, Brian and Kara Vanasse and also six great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Pauline Laperle, Lorraine Garceau and the late Leonard and Raymond Theroux.
Visitation and Funeral will be held Saturday at 9am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Ave., Greenville at 11am. Burial will be in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Activity Department at Hebert Health Center, 180 Log Rd., Smithfield, RI 02917 or Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.
