NORTH SMITHFIELD- Douglas L. Follett, 86, of Follett St., died Saturday Feb. 22, 2014 in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Lillian (Kollett) Follett whom he married July 10, 1954.
Born in Woodland, CA he was the son of the late Leslie and Laura (Smith) Follett.
Mr. Follett worked as a conservationist for the Rhode Island Dept. of Environmental Management for over thirty years, retiring in 1986. He also worked many years for Ye Olde English Fish & Chip, Woonsocket. Douglas served many years as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, was a huge naturalist giving regularly to the RI Blood Center, he also enjoyed camping and traveling.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Follett and his wife Susan of Cumberland and Bruce Follett and his wife Paula of Johnston, two daughters, Diane Lockwood and her husband John and Christine Mercadante and her husband Robert, both of Millville, MA, a sister, Muriel Stockdale of Webster, MA, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Marilyn Follett and Priscilla Kowalczyk.
Visitation will be held Wednesday Feb. 26, 2014 from 5-8PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, or The Nature Conservancy, 4245 Fairfax Dr. Ste 100, Arlington, VA 22203-9867.
