Shatraw named city fire chief

WOONSOCKET – In one of the biggest personnel moves she’s made since taking office, Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt appointed Deputy Fire Chief Paul A. Shatraw as the next permanent chief of the Woonsocket Fire Department.

Shatraw, 48, is a 28-year veteran of the fire department who worked his way up through the ranks after starting out as a private in 1986.

“I am honored to appoint Deputy Chief Shatraw to this most important position,” Baldelli-Hunt said. “He is uniquely qualified and I have every confidence that he will serve Woonsocket effectively, with distinction, as we begin to transform our community.”
