NORTH SMITHFIELD- Sr. Lillian Guy, RJM, 100, in residence at St. Antoine, died Thursday morning.
Born in St. Valerien, P.Q. Canada she was a daughter of the late Amedee and Aurore (Guilbert) Guy.
She was raised in Woonsocket and was a graduate of St. Clare Girls High School.
She entered the Religious of Jesus and Mary on August 15, 1933 at Sillery, P.Q. Canada and made her final solemn Profession of Vows on August 17, 1935. Sister Lillian served in the following assignments in service of the order: Our Lady of Lourdes in Providence 1935-1948, Fall River 1948-1956, Goffstown, NH 1956-1967, Holy Family Parish in Woonsocket 1967-1979, Mercymount Country Day School in Cumberland 1979-1985, Regina Mission Center in Hyattsville, MD 1985-1989, St. Timothy Parish in Warwick 1989-2004. Since 2004 Sr. Lillian has resided at St. Antoine. Sr. Lillian kept active during her retirement years including ministering to babies and their families who had AIDS at Rhode Island Hospital, teaching CCD at several area parishes and preparing the handicapped for their First Communion among a host of various other activities.
She was the sister of the late Aureliene, Leandre, Laurent, Ulyses, Roland, Hillarie, Amedee Jr., Jean-Paul and Rev. Jules Guy,OMI, Jeannette Fontaine, Gisele Gamache, Yolande Brothers, Aline Fleuette, Bernadette Forget and Estelle Guy.
She is survived by her fellow sisters in the Religious of Jesus and Mary and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in the Religious of Jesus and Mary lot in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Religious of Jesus and Mary, c/o Sr. Eileen Reid, RJM 3521 13th St. N.W. Washington D.C. 20010.
