NORTH SMIITHFELD - Lucille B. (Arel) Smith, 92, formerly of Great Rd. died March 4, 2014 at The Friendly Home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Lucien E. Smith. Born in Canada, on June 21, 1921, she was the last of twenty three children born to the late Willie and Marie Louise (Joyal) Arel. Lucille was a homemaker for most of her life, and she was a proud and loving mother and grandmother. She also worked for the French Worsted Co. and Tupperware. Lucille enjoyed gardening and did so until the age of 92.
She is survived by her daughters, Constance Lauzon and her husband Raymond of North Smithfield, and Annette Sweeney and her husband David of Sanford, FL, a daughter-in-law, Marie Smith, nine grandchildren, Deborah L. Schionning, Tina M. Smith, Nicole L. Kidson, John Smith, Jesse D. Smith, Jennifer Berg, David J. Sweeney, Erin M. Fortin, and Christina Lillibridge, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Bradley and Kathryn Schionning, Abigail and Jacob Kidson, Ashlyn Lillibridge, Jessy, Rose Marie, Christopher, and Kaylee Smith, Meghan Berg, Bryson J. Sweeney, and Liam and Alec Fortin. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lucille was predeceased by her son Jean Smith.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. John's Church, Church St. in Slatersville, Burial will follow in the RI Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
