WOONSOCKET - Rachel A. (Lavoie) Emmons, 89, of Dulude Ave., died March 6, 2014, in Oakland Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Metivier) Lavoie.
Mrs. Emmons worked for 20 years as an accountant, and in various other jobs within the State of Rhode Island and 13 years for the City of Woonsocket. She was a graduate of St. Claire High School and received her Associate and B.A. from Johnson & Wales University. Rachel was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Woonsocket.
She is survived by four sons, Donald Emmons, Jr. of Warwick, Paul Emmons of No. Smithfield, Richard Emmons of Paola, KS and Robert Emmons of Ocala, FL, a daughter, Louise Emmons of Woonsocket, four sisters, Connie Bibeault of Middletown, CT, Theresa Lanctot of Copper City, FL, Aline Stark of Ogdensburg, NY and Madeline McIntrye of No. Smithfield, seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Dennis Emmons and sister of the late Normand Lavoie.
Her funeral will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Holy Family Church, 414 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Inurnment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 314 Wrentham Rd., Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 - 7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
