WOONSOCKET- Donald L. Gervais, 57, of Diamond Hill Rd., died March 11, 2014 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Lucille I. (Michaud) Gervais of Woonsocket and the late J. Laurent Gervais.
Mr. Gervais was a 1974 graduate of Woonsocket High School, where he was a drummer in the marching band. He received a Culinary Arts Degree from Johnson & Wales, Providence. After graduation he worked at Deslauriers Bakery, Woonsocket, decorating wedding cakes. In addition, he worked part time at Wilfred's Sea Food. Most of his career he was a chef at Wrentham State School, Wrentham, MA. Don was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan and loved to putter around his Mom's house and bake goodies for his family and friends. His cars were his most prized possessions. Don was an active member of the Twelve Golden Step meeting in Blackstone, MA, and cherished all his friends there.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Stephanie M. Gervais of No. Attleboro, MA; his sister, Diane L. Ouimette and her husband Michael of Woonsocket; a niece, Lauren M. Hammond and her husband Douglas and their son Landon of Cumberland, and his nephew, LTJG Jeffrey M. Ouimette of San Diego, CA.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 314 Wrentham Road, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Friday from 4 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
