Two councilors face recall over support of all-day K

WOONSOCKET – Two members of the City Council, sworn in just three months ago, could be headed for a test of the city’s voter recall provision as result of their support of the School Department’s full-day kindergarten proposal.

City Councilwoman Melissa Murray and Councilman Garrett Mancieri are the targets of the recall effort being mounted by a group of 10 city residents opposed to their position on the restoration of full-day kindergarten in local schools.

“It ain’t personal, but we feel that they aren’t up to the task for what the city is facing,” James Cournoyer, a local taxpayer advocated and one of the 10 residents seeking the recall, said when contacted about the move Wednesday night.
