UXBRIDGE- Elizabeth A. "Annie" (Hewitt) Gardner, 103, formerly of Centennial Ct. died Sun. March 16 at Lydia Taft House. Her husband Albert E. Gardner died on Feb. 12, 1981.
She is survived 5 grandchildren, Richard J. Gardner and his wife Donna of Spencer, Lorraine A. Eddy of Whitinsville, Sharon M. Searles and her husband Benjamin of N. Grafton, Susan M. Moschini and her fiance' Jeff Markus of Ashland, and Lisa J. Harrigan of Whitinsville; a daughter-in-law Patricia Gardner of Northbridge; 7 great grand daughters and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sons, Ernest J. Gardner and John R. Gardner; a sister and 3 brothers. Born in Fall River, MA on Dec. 20, 1910 she was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth A. (Hill) Hewitt and lived in Uxbridge since 1920.
Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards, bingo, and watching bowling on TV. She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Uxbridge, the Senior Citizens Bowling League, the Uxbridge Grange, and was a Royal Traveler of Linwood. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Parish in Uxbridge. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lydia Taft House and Optum Hospice for their loving care and attention given to Elizabeth.
Her funeral will be held on Thurs. March 20 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. with a Mass at 11 am in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thurs. March 20 from 9-10:30. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annie's memory may be made to the Lydia Taft Activity Fund, 60 Quaker Hwy, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
