BELLINGHAM- George E. Bourgeois, 78, of Bellingham, MA, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Valerie J. (Marchand) Bourgeois.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on November 16, 1935, he was the son of the late Adolphe A. and Florence (Drury) Bourgeois.
He was the loving father of Thomas Bourgeois and his wife, Georgeann of North Smithfield, RI, and Renee Chartier of North Smithfield, RI, and step-father of Edward G. Noel of Cumberland, RI, Melissa Masi and her husband, David of North Smithfield, RI and Jennifer Costa and her husband Randy, of Tiverton, RI. He leaves his cherished 13 grandchildren. He was the brother of Walter Bourgeois of Woonsocket, RI, Theresa Barebeault and Tillingworth, CT, and the late Albert Bourgeois, Marguerite Dufresne, Louella Solecki, Marjorie Mullen, Judith Chevrette, Barbara Hall and Constance Hooper.
A resident of Bellingham formerly of Woonsocket and North Smithfield, Mr. Bourgeois worked as a welder at North East Concrete, Parkinson Machinery of Esmond, RI and The Steel Shop in Wrentham, MA until retiring.
He was an avid sports fan and motorcycle rider enjoying his annual trips to Laconia. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 3rd with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville, RI. Burial will be private.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St., Bellingham, MA.
