NO. SMITHFIELD- Leona M. (Pariseau) Nowak, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday at the St. Antoine Residence, surrounded by her loving grandchildren. She was the loving wife of the late Walter M. Nowak who died in 2011 for 63 years.
Born Sept. 7, 1920 in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late John & Sara (Hetu) Pariseau.
In her younger years she worked at the former Glenark Mill, then later staying home to take care of her children and grand children. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, playing bingo and going to Foxwoods.
She is survived by her granddaughter Lisa (Nowak) DeCoste of Chesapeake, Va., four grandsons Steven Nowak of Cumberland, Kirk, Angell, Walter and Michael Nowak all of Woonsocket, a son Ronald Nowak of Sebastien, FL., her brother Eugene Pariseau of Woonsocket and sisters Evelyn Pariseau of No. Smithfield, Gloria Cooper of Johnston, and Blanche Germano of No. Providence. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Walter J. Nowak as well as numerous brothers and sisters.
Her Funeral will be Friday April 4th at 9:00 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 35 Harris Ave. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Charles Borromeo Church on No. Main and Daniels St. Woonsocket, Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery. Relatives and Friends are invited. Visitation hours are Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. In llieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association RI, 245 Waterman St. Providence, RI 02906.
