Mounties roll to 7-0 sweep of Tigers in boys' tennis

WOONSOCKET – The boys from Mount St. Charles had hoped their handsome new tennis courts would be ready for at least one of their matches last spring.

That never happened, leaving the girls’ squad with the exciting opportunity to christen the complex during its fall campaign.

The Mountie males, however, did get their chance during a Division II/Suburban A opening-day clash against Tolman on Tuesday afternoon, eventually strolling away with a 7-0 victory.

Junior Mike Doody, classmate Matt Saviano, senior Travis Connolly and junior Ethan Guevremont all coasted to straight-set triumphs to pace the defending state D-II champion Mounties, mentored by former St. Raphael Academy standout Sean McClelland.
