N. UXBRIDGE - Gerard W. "Gerry" Poulin Sr., 85, formerly of N. Main St. died Sun. April 13 at St. Antoine Residence after an illness.
He is survived by his wife Cora (Parent) Poulin; his 6 children Marguerite M. Marge and her husband Nicholas M. Benedetto Jr. of Whitinsville, Gerard W. Gerry Poulin Jr. and his wife Monica of Gold Canyon AZ, Ronald R. and his wife Barbara Poulin of Linwood, Roger O. Poulin of Whitinsville, Roland P. Poulin of N. Uxbridge, and Susan M. Poulin of N. Uxbridge; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 stepsons Donald, Andre, and Leandre Parent; 2 step-daughters Carol Berube and Diane Parent; 10 step-grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren; a brother Paul Poulin of S. Grafton; a sister Cecile R. Dionne and her husband Charles of N. Uxbridge; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife Edourdina E. (Courtemanche) Poulin and his second wife Emelia A. (Courtemanche) Poulin, his brothers Raoul, George, and Arthur, his sisters Marie Anne DeFond and Dorothy Vincent. Born in Uxbridge on Oct. 2, 1928 he was the son of Joseph and Yvonne (Belval) Poulin living in Uxbridge many years, moving to Lincoln, RI in 1976.
Mr. Poulin was a machine operator for Dennison Mfg. in Framingham for over 20 years, retiring in 1992. He had also worked for many years at Wyman-Gordon Corp. as well as the Uxbridge Worsted Wool Co. He also owned and operated Gerry's Sunday Papers where he sold Sunday papers for 27 years. He enjoyed Saturday morning "Mens Club" with his sons, grandsons, and brothers. He was the Master of Ceremonies for many weddings doing grand marches and calling out French quadrilles.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran he served in Guam as Military Police. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1385 in Uxbridge. He was a member of St. James Church in Lincoln, RI as well as Good Shepherd in Linwood.
His funeral will be held on Tues. April 22 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. with a Mass at 10 am in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood St. Linwood. Burial will follow in St Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Mon.
