WOONSOCKET- Alfred J. Marchand 93, formerly of Logee St. died Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Centre. He was the husband of Gertrude (Pierel) Marchand, with whom he celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary, April 19, 2014.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Adelard and Marie-Louise (St. Pierre) Marchand.
Mr. Marchand was an independent distributor for local bakeries for many years. He was a WWII Army Veteran.
Besides his wife he leaves six children, Roger J. Marchand of Spring Hills, FL, Francoise M. Cayer and her husband Craig of Cumberland, Maurice G. Marchand and his wife Cheryl of Nokomis, FL, Alfred J. Marchand Jr. and his wife Ann of Marco Island, FL, Colette M. Cote and her husband Richard of Brooklyn, CT, and John J. Marchand and his wife Donna of Hingham, MA, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Alice Biron, Paul, George, Adelard and Gerard Marchand.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home are private. In lieu of flowers donations to Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Centre Activities Dept., 262 Poplar St., Woonsocket, RI 02895, in his memory would be appreciated. Please visit
