CUMBERLAND- Stella F. Pollitt (Spas), passed away Saturday in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Pollitt, they were married for 65 years..
Born in Woonsocket and raised in Bellingham, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Anna (Dypry) Spas.
She resided in North Smithfield for the past four years previously residing in Cumberland for 48 years.
Mrs. Pollitt was a L.P.N. employed by the former Fogarty Hospital, North Smithfield for many years until her retirement. A former communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church, Cumberland she was active with the church for many years as a Eucharistic Minister and Reader. She always had a happy smile and glowing disposition.
She leaves two children, Susan McCarthy and her partner Christopher Bonner of Glocester and a son Mark Pollitt of North Providence. One granddaughter Tina Pollitt of Glocester and a very special friend, Nancy St. Laurent of Cumberland. She was also the sister of the late Joseph, Stanley and Alex Spars and Mary Sarazin and Joanne Deffley.
