WOONSOCKET- Edward J. Coons, 64, of Woonsocket, died April 29, 2014 in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Dawn E. (Mucciarone) Coons, with whom he would have celebrated their 36th anniversary on May 7th.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Edward M. and Robena (Gillette) Coons. He grew up in Atlantic City, NJ.
Edward was a master mechanic, specializing in diesel engines. He enjoyed the Jersey shore, especially Cape May.
Besides his wife, he leaves his two nieces, Jane Kamm and her husband David of Haymarket, VA and Jill O’Hara and her husband Jay of Burrillville; two nephews, Anthony Hammann and his wife Myra of Jeffersonville, IN and Joshua Hammann and his wife Shannon of Brooklyn, NY; his grandnephews and nieces, Jacob, Samantha, Will, Isabell and Brody; two sister-in-laws, Beverly Tobin and her husband Bentley of Lincoln and Gail Hammann of Elizabethtown, KY; and two cousins, Rev. John Kiley and William Duke. He was predeceased by three sisters, Robena Andrews, Barbara Palmeri and Ethel McClellan; and his brother in law, Jack Mucciarone.
His funeral will be held Saturday May 3, 2014, beginning with visitation at 10AM followed by a service at Noon in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 No. Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
