CUMBERLAND- Rosalie C. (Bis) Slowick of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Oak Hill in Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Stanley A. Slowick, Lt. Col. USAF Res. Ret.
Ms. Slowick is survived by her son Stanley A. Slowick of Warweick, RI.
Born in South Bellingham, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Francis M. and Louisa I. (Nowak) Bis. Ms. Slowick was also the sister of the late John F. Bis, Michael J. Bis, Mary A. Kobylarz and Sophie B. Bis.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School and the former Hill College. She served as Vice-President of the Board of that College. She was employed as Assistant Office Supervisor in the Woonsocket district Office of the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company. During World War 11, she proudly served her country as a volunteer 1st Lieutenant in the Red Cross Ambulance Motor Corps.
Ms Slowick was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and a member of the Ladies Rosary Sodality. She served on the Board of Directors of the Little Rhody Chapter of the Reserve Officers Ladies Club and the Trinity Club of Woonsocket. She was a member of the Cumberland Senior Citizens, The Bellingham Polish Conversation Group and the St. Joseph Senior Citizens Club.
Her Funeral will be Friday, May 16th, at 9:30 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church 174 Harris Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives & Friends are invited. A Visitation hour will be Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. one hour prior to the Funeral Mass.
