MANVILLE - Rosa P. Afonso, 98, of Sayles Hill Rd., formerly of Winter St. Woonsocket, died Thursday May 15, 2014 in the Holiday Retirement Home, She was the wife of the late Afredo Afonso.
Born in Milford, Mass. daughter of the late, Manuel and Ana (Goncalvez) Pereira.
Rosa worked for Finkelsteins, as a press operator for 6 years and then as a seamstress, for 15 years.
She is survived by her four sisters - in - laws, Ana Pereira, of Connecticut, Ester Pereira, of Portugal, Idalina Pereira of Connecticut and Delfina Pereira, of Connecticut, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Anibal Afonso.
Rosa was one of eight children and was predeceased by her three sisters and four brothers.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday May 20, 2014 at 11 A.M. from the S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in St. Charles Church, North Main St. Woonsocket, Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery Blackstone, Mass. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are on Tuesday morning prior to the funeral from 10A.M. to 11 A.M.
The family of Rosa would like to thank the Holiday Retirement Home for the excellent care she received, throughout all the years she made the Holiday, her home.
