FRANKLIN - Lionel R. Mercure 88, a Franklin resident since 1963, died Friday May 16, 2014 at Genesis Healthcare in Milford, following a long illness. He was the husband of Marie I. (Brackett) Mercure for 67 years.
Born in North Smithfield, RI February 12, 1926 a son of the late Henry O. and Lena (Herbert) Mercure, he was raised and educated in North Smithfield.
He retired from the Dennison Manufacturing Company in Framingham, where he worked for many years as a machinist.
He served in the Unites States Army during the Korean conflict. He attained the rank of corporal, and was honorably discharged in July 1954.
He enjoyed camping, and time spent with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Michael A. and Marc C. Mercure of Franklin, a brother Wallace Mercure of Pascoag, 5 grandchildren, Heather, Justin, Katie, Amy, and Kasey, and 2 great granddaughters, Julia and Sarah.
He was the brother of the late Raymond J. Mercure, Dorothy M. Marshall, and Muriel Hennigan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Tuesday May 20th, at 12Noon in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later time.
Calling hours are Monday from 6-8PM.
