MILLVILLE - Paulette R. "Memere" (Boucher) Mercure, 64, of Millville passed away on Mon. May 19, 2014 in the Blaire House of Milford. She was the wife of the late Richard G. Mercure who died in 2008.
Paulette became the first female police officer in the town of Millville and was a dedicated public servant in the town holding many positions. She was presently employed as a mail clerk at the Worcester County House of Corrections for 9 years.
Paulette was born May 31, 1949 in Woonsocket, RI the daughter of the late Raymond and Rita (Monfette) Boucher and had been a resident of Woonsocket, RI before moving to Millville in 1970. She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School, Class of 1967.
Mr. and Mrs. Mercure were both on the building committee of the new Senior Center in Millville. Paulette enjoyed shopping and cooking and her greatest joy was her love for her entire family and her dear friends.
Paulette is survived by two sons; Kenneth P. and his wife Brenda E. Mercure of Manville, RI, and Keith A. and his wife Crystal Mercure of Millville, one daughter, Lori A. Kelleher of Southbridge, 4 grandchildren: Cody, Johnathon, Kyle and Shannon and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Denise Kellogg.
Visiting hours will be held on Fri. May 23, 2014 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 North Main St. (RT 122), Uxbridge.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. May 24, 2014 at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Theresa's Cemetery, Nasonville, RI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
