LITHIA, FL. - LaFlamme, Norman A., 89, of Lithia, FL. passed away on June 7, 2014. He was born on February 20, 1925 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to the late Leo and Florence (Colby) LaFlamme. Norman graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1943 and was President of his class, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island.
Norman served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, having been awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of service. Norman lived in the Cleveland, OH area for 40 years where he worked for and was part owner of the Cleveland Indians during the 1970's - 80's. He loved baseball, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling.
Norman is survived by his daughter Mary (Shawn) Sarkisian, grandchildren Grace and John Sarkisian, three brothers; John LaFlamme, Donald "Mike" (Linda) LaFlamme, and Ronald (Gray) LaFlamme. Norman was preceded in death by a brother Leo LaFlamme, and three sisters; Dorothy Whitcher, Bertha McCormick, and Shirley Rainville.
A viewing will take place on Wednesday June 11, 2014 from 6-8pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday June 12, 2014 at 11am at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Norman will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors, next to his loving wife, Patricia who passed away in 2009.
