William D. Maher Jr.

BLACKSTONE - William D. Maher Jr., 82,of Blackstone, MA died Thursday, November 18, 2007 in St. Vincents Hospital, Worcester, MA after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Margaret (OBrien) Maher who passed away in November of 2003. Born in Woonsocket, RI he was the son of the late William D. and Evelyn (Kelly) Maher Sr.
Mr. Maher is a WW II United States Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a machinist for P&C Quality Screw Products. He loved golf and was a member of the Whitinsville Country Club and also a member of Cercle Laurier, Woonsocket RI. Mr. Maher was a surviver of Guillain-Barre Syndrome in the late 1950s, a condition that was often misdiagnosed as polio.
Mr. Maher is survived by two sons: William Danny Maher of Blackstone, MA; James Jimmy Maher and his wife Gale of Bellingham, MA; one daughter Peggy Soullier and her husband Paul of Blackstone, MA; two grandchildren: Patrick Soullier and Dawn Lavalle; two great grandchildren; one brother Stanley Maher of Arizona; and his companion Betty Friend of Upton, MA. He was predeceased by one grandson, Christopher William Soullier and one sister: Barbara Curis.
His funeral will be held at 8:30 am Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from the James E. Kellett and Son Funeral Home, 38 Main St., Blackstone, MA followed by a mass at 9:30 am in St. Pauls Church, St. Pauls St., Blackstone, MA. Cremation will follow.
Calling hours are Monday, November 22, 2010 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Mahers memory to The Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Ave, Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 60091-1064
