Mayor: Time to relocate Registry

WOONSOCKET – Where’s the best location for the new registry of motor vehicles in the city?

It doesn’t matter who you talk to – from the chief of the state Division of Motor Vehicles to the mayor and the guy on the street – everyone seems to come up with the same answer: Put it in one of the hollowed-out retail plazas on Diamond Hill Road.

“I’m promoting it from an economic development standpoint,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “We’re all concerned about the exodus we’ve seen up there and we need to regenerate an area that’s been deflated.”
