Rhode Island gubernatorial candidate Gina Raimondo, second from left, smiles as she is introduced at the official opening of her new Woonsocket campaign headquarters at 1 Social St. in the city Thursday evening. Raimondo stated to her supporters, which numbered around 35, that it's going to take "the same boldness and courage" she brought to her tenure as General Treasurer to bring the state back from it's dismal economic doldrums. She said she favors raising the minimum wage to $10.10/ hour, bringing back the manufacturing industry to the state, and providing jobs right away by repairing our crumbling infrastructure. She also plans to re-image the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) as a workforce development school and by doing so, "we can create tens of thousands of jobs", thereby reinvigorating the state's economy, she stated. State Rep. Bob Philips and City Councilman Garrett Mancieri attended the opening.
