BURRILLIVILLE - Gladys S. Surbuts, 90, of Harrisville, RI, passed away while surrounded by her loving family on July 3, 2014 at the Overlook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Pascoag.
She was the loving wife of 67 years to George Surbuts.
She was born in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of the late James & Bertha (Andrew) Shaw.
Gladys worked for the Burrillville Town Clerk's Office for many years, retiring as Deputy Town Clerk in April, 1985. She was a life long Burrillville resident and was a member of the Altar Guild and Women's Group of the Calvary Episcopal Church in Pascoag.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children, Barbara Jamara of Randolph, MA, Ronald Surbuts of Alta Loma, CA, and Paula O'Hara of Cranston, RI. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amy Houfek, David Surbuts, William, Thomas, and Daniel Jamara and five great grandchildren, Morgan, Kane, and Asher Houfek, Lorelai and Isaac Jamara, and a brother, James T. Shaw, Jr. South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John P. Shaw.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 10am in the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Grafton, MA. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-8pm.
