CHESTER, SC - Robert Maurice Durand, 61, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his home. Calling hours in Woonsocket, Rhode Island will be Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fournier and Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chester, SC with Father David Runnion officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2014 at Barron Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Durand was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on December 12, 1952. He is the son of Maurice and Rita (Lambert) Durand. He attended the schools of Rhode Island and was an avid race car enthusiast and outdoorsman. Mr. Durand was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and Chester, SC. He was former owner/operator of Bob's Cass Avenue Service in Woonsocket, RI. and enjoyed drag racing and was a huge NASCAR fan. Mr. Durand was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Durand is survived by his wife of over forty-two years, Theresa St. Pierre Durand; one daughter, Lynn Segars and her fiancé James Ballew of Chester, SC; one son, Robert Durand and his fiancée Debbie Archand of Woonsocket RI; Eight grandchildren, David LaBerge, Kayla Merrill, Falon Archand, Michael Archand, Marissa Wallace, Jessica, Haley and Tyler Ballew; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Durand of Bellingham, MA; one sister, Sandra Masso (Jay) of Harrisville, RI and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Cote.
