Street athletes' dream comes together brick by brick

July 16, 2014

WOONSOCKET – It’s an odorless, ice-blue bar imprinted with the phrase, “Frosty Builds Skateparks.”

It looks like soap, but you’d be wrong if that were your guess.
It’s the stuff of dreams.

Frosty Builds Skateparks is a new brand of skateboard wax that’s at the center of a web-based crowdfunding campaign that’s already raised over $14,000 to build a Street Athlete Community Center in the city. And it’s all the brainchild of four teenage skateboard enthusiasts who say there are too few recreational venues here to practice their favorite activities, including skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX bicycling.

“We need a place to skateboard because we’re tired of getting kicked out of places just for doing what we love,” says Aaron Williams, 15, of Woonsocket.
