NORTH SMITHFIELD - Edgar "Fast Eddie" J. Richard, 83, of Victory Highway, No. Smithfield, died July 15, 2014 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Judith L. (Ranslow) Richard whom he married November 26, 1963. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Joseph and Loretta (Moreau) Richard.
He worked twenty-one years for the North Smithfield Highway Department before retiring in 1994. Ed also worked part-time at Stop & Shop, No. Smithfield for a period of time. He enjoyed watching old cowboy movies.
Besides his wife Judith, he is survived by their three sons, Michael Richard and his wife Doreen of Pascoag, John Richard and his wife Lisa of Palm Bay, FL, and Joseph Richard and his wife Lauren of Attleboro, MA; their daughter, Leanne Richard of North Smithfield; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Alfred and Leo Richard; and his sister Dorothea Fafard.
Calling hours are Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
