Woonsocket girl aiming at Miss RI Teen USA crown

August 3, 2014

WOONSOCKET — Tatyana Sepulveda, a sophomore at Woonsocket High School, has decided to add another extracurricular activity to her workload this year: the Miss Rhode Island Teen USA pageant.

Sepulveda, 15, was encouraged to compete in the pageant by her mother, who gathered information about the competition online. She consequently applied as a contestant two weeks ago, and was chosen to participate in the statewide event after undergoing the selection process.

“We had to submit a picture, and they called us for phone interviews,” says Sepulveda. “If the judges liked the phone interview and the photograph, they selected you to compete.”

The pageant, set to take place on Sept. 12 at the R.I. Convention Center, will feature 50 to 60 young women ages 14 to 18 contending for the title through the opening act, swimwear, interview, and formal wear segments.
