CRANSTON – In the 9/10-year-old East Regional tournament semi-final on Friday, the Lincoln Little League All-Stars traded the lead three times with their foes from Mystic, Conn., but ultimately came out on top for a 7-5 win at Michael P. Varrato Field.

Lincoln’s win qualified them as the New England representative in the tournament’s finale, to be played today at 11 a.m. at Varrato. Lincoln’s opponent will be the winners of the Mid-Atlantic bracket, New Jersey’s Upper Township Little League.

On Friday night, Lincoln struck first, manufacturing a run each in the top of the second and the top of the third. In the second, a double by Kevin Masse drove home Cameron Bernard for the game’s first run.

In the third, Lincoln’s Jaden White doubled and advanced to third base on a bad throw, and was knocked home on a sacrifice fly by Bernard.

Mystic came back in the bottom of that frame, however, scoring three times with the help of a walk, a hit batsman and two singles.

In the fifth inning, however, Lincoln rallied to load the bases with one out. Nathan Kelly then stroked a base hit which plated Danny Fish and Charles London.

Lincoln tacked on three more in the sixth by drawing a series of walks.
