BURRILLVILLE - Robert E. "Dizzy" Desautell, 73, of Nasonville, RI, passed on August 13, 2014 at the Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.
He was the loving husband of 51 years to Jane (Stefanak) Desautell.
He was born in Pascoag, RI, son of the late Albert & Eileen (Mahar) Desautell.
Dizzy was a truck driver for MetLife Company in Warwick. He previously was a truck driver for the Emmett Valley, in Uxbridge, MA and Johnson Motor Lines in Lincoln. He was a lifelong Burrillville resident and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a volunteer fireman for the Nasonville Fire Department for over 25 years and was a member of the VFW Post #6342 in Forestdale, American Legion Post #88 and was very active in the Island Fly Fishing Club in North Smithfield. He also was a member of the Vietnam Veteran's of America.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Sheila Fagan of Pascoag and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Desautell.
His funeral will be held Monday at 10am from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Theresa's Church, Dion Drive, Nasonville. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4pm until 7pm.
